Dear participant,

This study is a part of a thesis for a master program in Electronics and ICT Engineering technology project on the player experience in a virtual reality pet simulation. This study aims to explore the experience of players in a virtual reality pet game and to understand the contribution of different interactions and haptic feedbacks on player experience. Insights that we gain from this study will be translated into implications for design which we hope will support the work of researchers and developers.
What does participation entail?
In this study, you will take part in a survey. The questionnaire concerns the followings topics:
  1. An interview that concerns your experience with the simulation in relation to your past experience with live domesticated animals.
  2. Your perceived experience of the pet simulation.
  3. Your perception on the task load performed in the simulation.
  4. Demographic information including detail on your experiences with live animals and virtual reality systems.
What are possible risks and benefits of my participation?
There are no direct risks or benefits of being part of this study.
Will my participation on this study stay confidential?
All information collected through this study will remain confidential. Only the researchers of this project will have access to the collected data.

All collaborators and people involved in this study commit themselves to act in good conscience and shall respect the Belgian privacy law (“Law of the 8th of December 1992 to protect the personal privacy relative to the processing of the personal data, B.S. 18th of March 1993”).
What shall happen with the results of the study?
The results shall be used in the context of scientific research. It is possible that the results will be published in a scientific paper. In this case your identity will never be disclosed. Your name and other information that could lead to your identification (e.g., detailed demographic information) will not be included.
